it’s my great pleasure to stand here to present my speech—change the world, change ourselves.

it’s noticable that western holidays are becoming increasingly popular day by day, while chinese traditional festivals are being somewhat neglected. not long before about 10 doctors in beijing university and qinghua unversity announced that we should reject the invasion of western holidays ,because they regard western holidays as an challenge against our traditional festivals and culture.

frankly speaking, i don’t quite agree with ed, we should never neglect or even discard our traditonal festivals as china boasts a brilliant history and splendid traditions. (examples) why can’t we absorb the meaningful western holidays and culture.

there are obvious reasons why some western holidays are so popular in china. on the one hand, some of the western holidays which we chinese don’t have are reasonable and meaningful, such as father’s day and april fool’s day etc. on the other hand, the prevalence of globalization enables western culture to prevail in china. overwhelmed by such a trend, chinese unconsiciously get involved in western holidays and culture.

with the further development of the whole world, the cultural communication between different countries and nations becomes faster and more and more important. we are indeed from different nations, but we are the citizens of the same world, so the outstanding culture of different nations is the commom wealth of everyone on the only way for us to protect our traditional culture is to reject the foreign culture? the answer is definitely no. what we ought to do is to spare no effort to educate chinese to get to know and treasure our splendid traditions instead of rejecting foreign culture. only by educating can we set our confidence and belief towards our culture. only by educating can we preserve and promote the wealth that our ancesters left for us.

at last i’d like to share a famouse saying of gandhi with all of you ,that is:if you want to change the world, then you must change yourself first.”

January first. The beginning of a new year. As far back in history as wecan tell, people have celebrated the start of a new year.

The people of ancient Egypt began their new year in summer. That is whenthe Nile River flooded its banks, bringing water and fertility to the land. Thepeople of ancient Babylonia and Persia began their new year on Marchtwenty-first, the first day of spring. And, some Native American Indians begantheir new year when the nuts of the oak tree became ripe. That was usually inlate summer.

Now, almost everyone celebrates New Years Day on January first. Today, asbefore, people observe the New Years holiday in many different ways.

The ancient Babylonians celebrated by forcing their king to give up hiscrown and royal clothing. They made him get down on his knees and admit all themistakes he had made during the past year.

This idea of admitting wrongs and finishing the business of the old year isfound in many societies at new years. So is the idea of making resolutions. Aresolution is a promise to change your ways. To stop smoking, for example. Or toget more physical exercise.

Noise-making is another ancient custom at the new year. The noise isconsidered necessary to chase away the evil spirits of the old year. Peoplearound the world do different things to make a lot of noise. They may hit stickstogether. Or beat on drums. Or blow horns. Or explode fireworks.

Americans celebrate the New Year in many ways.

Most do not have to go to work or school. So they visit family and friends.Attend church services. Share a holiday meal. Or watch new years parades ontelevision. Two of the most famous parades are the Mummers Parade inPhiladelphia, Pennsylvania, and the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. Bothhave existed for many years.

Americans also watch football on television on New Years Day. Most years, university teams play in special holiday games.

For those who have been busy at work or school, New Years may be a day ofrest. They spend the time thinking about, and preparing for, the demands of thenew year.

Honorable Judges, fellow students:

Good afternoon!

Recently, there is a heated debate in our society. The college students arethe beneficiaries of a rare privilege, who receive exceptional education atextraordinary places. But will we be able to face the challenge and supportourselves against all odds? Will we be able to better the lives of others? Willwe be able to accept the responsibility of building the future of ourcountry?

The cynics say the college students are the pampered lost generation, whichwould cringe at the slightest discomfort. But the cynics are wrong. The collegestudents I see are eagerly learning about how to live independently. We helpeach other clean the dormitory, go shopping and bargain together, and take parttime jobs to supplement our pocket money.

The cynics say we care for nothing other than grades; and we neglect theneed for character cultivation. But again, the cynics are wrong. We care deeplyfor each other, we cherish freedom, we treasure justice, and we seek truth.

Good morning dear young fellows from suntrans,

Today is my two months and two days celebration of working in suntrans. This is my first job, and I am very glad tohave it, and to stand here sharing my feelings with all of you.

Today my topic is a little bit long, it is,the happy days of my dear little young fellows and me spent together in our companySuntrans. We had numerous happy days together, and every day is memorable. Itis so long that if I share every moment with you, this meeting may last three days or even longer. So in order to give us time to work, to eat, to go homeand to sleep, I will only share three most memorable moments we had together.

The first memorable moment for me was thecompany activity held in May by our human resources Department. We played games together and had a great time. That day was my 25th birthday, but that is not the most important reason whyI remember it so well. Firstly, I learned our company’s history, and felt thatit is very difficult to start a business, and thought that everyone in ourcompany is very hard working. Secondly, I joined Maple’s team that day, although we almost lost all of the competitions, everyone was so happy andfriendly and my team made me understood the meaning of the phrase– “team spirit”。I began to understand and like our company after that day’s activity.

The second memorable moment for me was the birthday party held in May. I never had such a birthday party before, what’s more, my birthday is the same month as our General Manager Lu, and I felt very honored and grateful. I received a lot of warm celebration words from all of you and a lovely birthday card. I was so moved that day and had the feeling that I am a part of this big family. When I blew off the candles, I made three wishes, firstly, make progress in English, secondly, make progress in Japanese,Thirdly, do my best to become a good translator in Suntrans. I hope my wisheswill come true in the future.

The third memorable moment for me was The Second Experience Exchanging Forum of Mining Investment 20xx. This is the first time I took part in such a big conference, and I was very excited and willing to do something for it. We did work very hard for this conference, and even asked the Dragon Boat Festival to contribute. This conference gave me a great workexperience and taught me many things: for example how to do advertising and marketing, and a great knowledge in mining industry. The most important is, our young fellows’team work is very brilliant, and I love our company more thanever after this conference.

These are the three most memorable moments for me that I spent with all of you in Suntrans, I hope that we can create moreand more in the future.

Thank you all, best wishes with love.

Good morning,

my name is ,22 years old, born in province. It is really a great honor to have this opportunity for an interview, I would like to answer whatever you may raise, and I hope I can make a good performance today! Now I will introduce myself briefly by three aspects: Strength; Weakness and Achievements!

Strength:

I feel that my strongest asset is my ability to stick to things to get them done. I feel a real sense of accomplishment when I finish a job and it turns out just as I’d planned. I’ve set some high goals for myself. For example, I want to graduate with highest scores. And at last, I become one of the outstanding graduates in Chong Qing University after a lot of study. Besides, I am good at building mathematical models and analyzing questions with economic methods.

Weakness:

I'm such a perfectionist that I will not stop until a job is well done.

Achievements: I had acquired the first prize by designing models on Mathematical modeling in 20xx; besides, I had help my teachers to analyze the Warrant pricing by varieties methods.

I’m convinced that I can go farther and make greater contribution for my country by careful process of learning, please give me this chance to study in this great university---LiGong University! I promise, I will use my whole ability to improve myself and get the primary accomplishment in my major and do a useful man for our school!

Personally, for today's China, the foundation of the development of Economic is the advancement of transportation equipment. That’s to say, we should do our best to make contribution to improve our transportation equipment to ensure the development of Economic.

Only when our transportation equipment is great enough, our economic can get big achievement.

Dear teachers and students,

Hello! Today, my topic is "protecting the environment and everyone isresponsible".

Throughout the ages, earths mother has nurtured countless generations ofchildren with sweet milk. She was beautifully decorated by her children. Now,however, the human race tormented her for its own sake. Man has only one earth; And the earth is facing a severe environmental crisis. "Save the earth" hasbecome the most powerful voice of people all over the world.

Students, we are the small masters of the earth, environmental awareness isthe important symbol of modern people. We should establish a sense ofresponsibility in The Times. Focus on the world and focus on the campus. To pickup the scraps of paper with a bent waist; Dont throw about; Take a few moresteps, dont pass through the green belt, trampling green space. "It is incumbenton all of us to save resources and protect the environment. We need to startfrom now, start from our side, start small. Through our efforts, the sky of themotherland is bluer, the land is greener, the water is clearer. Whether it isthe past, present, or future, whether it is family, country, or the world, theenvironment is always our friend, to be kind to our friends, to be kind toourselves.

"There is only one earth", let us protect our homeland together.

Good afternoon, ladies and Gentlemen. Today I’d like to begin with a story. We all know that Chinese, as a nation has a long history about 5000 years, andwe feel very proud of our brilliant and splendid culture. Owing to that, myfather always told me: “you would suffer loss if you don’t follow old people’swords.” Besides I was taught everyday to learn Peking Opera. If some boy who isabout 16 years old sings Peking Opera in the classroom now, I’m afraid he willbe laughed at. JAY’s “Qian Li Zhi Wai ”seems more popular to you.

So we may wonder does our tradition get out of the modern lifeAbsolutelynot. What we need is just a peace of innovation. Here is a question:What isinnovationInnovation was an ancient dream flying into the outer space;innovation today, is the amazing convenience and intelligence that a singlemobile phone in your pocket could bring to you.

There is no more then a battle between tradition and innovation, which isthe rain and water relationship, not only tradition like fish without water, again good innovation will also become the castles in the air, there wont belasting vitality. Only both of them are perfectly together will bear fruits ofsuccess as well.

With the economic globalization becoming increasingly intensive, innovationhas become one of central topics around the world. Many countries see it as thekey to develop their economy. Our government, with no exception, regard it as "the soul of our nation." Based on advanced function system and excellentmanagement, factories are booming and enhance overall national economy. Highlydevelopment of electronic commerce is also a significant factor for improvingour living standards. The enlargement of our authority to the recruit ofgraduate and improvement of the conditions of scientists and skilled workers......

From all above, innovation has already became a kind of habit. There is nodoubt we would surprise the world by creating more and more amazing innovationstaking advantages of not only our intelligence but innovation. I’m sureinnovation has became one of the symbols in Chinese tradition and will be markof our bright future!

Thanks for your attention. Thank you very much.

Hello,everyone!

I was fortunate to 20xx years in September admitted to the University of ad specialty . From 20xx to 20xx, from East Campus to Dushu Lake Campus. In the Soviet four years, brought me a lot of heritage and memory. Four years passed away, when they graduate, should be for the life of four years in the Ivory Tower to learn to do an interview self-introduction.

In four years, I quite seriously in learning, performance is also better, every year the school received a scholarship in the class have been able to maintain in the top five. Particularly in the specialized courses concerned, as far as possible to learn good use. Actively participate in various advertising competitions, and won the National College Advertising Art Competition Third Prize of Jiangsu Division. Both peacetime operations, or papers, or exams, can seriously hope the best. If you would like to say that four years in learning what the greatest regret is that English, formerly in high school I've had a nice English, but into the university, I slack on the English language, and not spend too much time to learn , resulting in the test to graduate have not been 6.

In social practice, I think my experience was very abundant. 200 * in the second half, I have to do internship in an advertising agency planning work, although the beginning of what will not, very hard, very tired, but when I as a Fan Meeting planners and executors of the stage and flowers after child communication band, when I write advertising effectiveness measurement companies Ina ceramic gain customer acceptance of the report, when I see their planned ceremony, opening ceremony of the successful implementation of the time, when I designed the LOGO when used by businesses When I work independently in the scene when the road show, I was happy.

Have you ever heard about Warren Buffet, the second richest person in the world? Well, today I am not going to talk about him but his three kids.

For someone whose parent is such an extraordinarily successful investor, the three kids come out pretty ordinary guys. When they were young, they each received $ 10,000 a year. If they wanted to borrow more money form their father, they have to sign a written agreement. When growing up, however, they all found their lovely jobs-housewife, farmer, musician, instead of relying on their well off father.

It seems that they are unlucky to have a father who criticizes the self-indulgence of super-rich. But is it really true? No, absolutely not! In fact, they are grateful to him because they found their own passion which suits their true talent, and they are able to make money on their own.

So what could we learn from them? Three words: independence, responsibility, passion. Indeed we are fortunate to be protected by the whole family, but this cannot be the reason for us to become boomerang children.

Although we, the generation of 90s have been questioned from the day we were born: selfness and weakness, indifference and rebellion, sensitivity and pride, we are still pressing on with our creed: Yes we can. At a time when the earthquake happened in We chuan, we were praised by the whole public because of the bravery and determination we show during the process of rescuing. Yes we can. When the World Expo was held in Shanghai, the smile on volunteers’ faces impressed millions of people all around the world. Yes we can. When the two kids fell into the river, fifteen freshmen of Chang Jiang University saved them from drowning regardless of the truth that they cannot swim. Yes we can. We were there for the return of Hong Kong and Macao, the Olympic Game in Beijing, the 60th anniversary of founding of New China, and Premier Wen Jiabao who told the survivors in earthquake that “We shall overcome.” Yes we can.

As the only child in the family, however, some of us just like flowers growing in the greenhouse that take for granted, and parents will give them whatever they want, from toys to books, from watches to cell phones, from houses to cars. But apart from this, we have to be independent. Everyone is an individual. You are not your parents’ sequel. You are not your kids’ prequel. You have your own talents and you have to rely on yourselves.

Take responsibility. No one can support you in your whole life. No one

On what we think we know?

I'm going to try and explain why it is that perhaps we don't understand as much as we think we do. I'd like to begin with four questions. This is not some sort of cultural thing for the time of year. That's an in-joke, by the way.

But these four questions, actually, are ones that people who even know quite a lot about science find quite hard. And they're questions that I've asked of science television producers, of audiences of science educators -- so that's science teachers -- and also of seven-year-olds, and I find that the seven-year-olds do marginally better than the other audiences, which is somewhat surprising.

So the first question, and you might want to write this down, either on a bit of paper, physically, or a virtual piece of paper in your head. And, for viewers at home, you can try this as well.

A little seed weighs next to nothing and a tree weighs a lot, right? I think we agree on that. Where does the tree get the stuff that makes up this chair, right? Where does all this stuff come from?

(Knocks)

And your next question is, can you light a little torch-bulb with a battery, a bulb and one piece of wire? And would you be able to, kind of, draw a -- you don't have to draw the diagram, but would you be able to draw the diagram, if you had to do it? Or would you just say, that's actually not possible?

The third question is, why is it hotter in summer than in winter? I think we can probably agree that it is hotter in summer than in winter, but why? And finally, would you be able to -- and you can sort of scribble it, if you like -- scribble a plan diagram of the solar system, showing the shape of the planets' orbits? Would you be able to do that? And if you can, just scribble a pattern.

OK. Now, children get their ideas not from teachers, as teachers often think, but actually from common sense, from experience of the world around them, from all the things that go on between them and their peers, and their carers, and their parents, and all of that. Experience. And one of the great experts in this field, of course, was, bless him, Cardinal Wolsey. Be very careful what you get into people's heads because it's virtually impossible to shift it afterwards, right?

(Laughter)

I'm not quite sure how he died, actually. Was he beheaded in the end, or hung?

(Laughter)

Now, those questions, which, of course, you've got right, and you haven't been conferring, and so on. And I -- you know, normally, I would pick people out and humiliate, but maybe not in this instance.

A little seed weighs a lot and, basically, all this stuff, 99 percent of this stuff, came out of the air. Now, I guarantee that about 85 percent of you, or maybe it's fewer at TED, will have said it comes out of the ground. And some people, probably two of you, will come up and argue with me afterwards, and say that actually, it comes out of the ground. Now, if that was true, we'd have trucks going round the country, filling people's gardens in with soil, it'd be a fantastic business. But, actually, we don't do that. The mass of this comes out of the air. Now, I passed all my biology exams in Britain. I passed them really well, but I still came out of school thinking that that stuff came out of the ground.

Second one: can you light a little torch-bulb with a battery bulb and one piece of wire? Yes, you can, and I'll show you in a second how to do that. Now, I have some rather bad news, which is that I had a piece of video that I was about to show you, which unfortunately -- the sound doesn't work in this room, so I'm going to describe to you, in true "Monty Python" fashion, what happens in the video. And in the video, a group of researchers go to MIT on graduation day. We chose MIT because, obviously, that's a very long way away from here, and you wouldn't mind too much, but it sort of works the same way in Britain and in the West Coast of the USA. And we asked them these questions, and we asked those questions of science graduates, and they couldn't answer them. And so, there's a whole lot of people saying, "I'd be very surprised if you told me that this came out of the air. That's very surprising to me." And those are science graduates. And we intercut it with, "We are the premier science university in the world," because of British-like hubris.

(Laughter)

And when we gave graduate engineers that question, they said it couldn't be done. And when we gave them a battery, and a piece of wire, and a bulb, and said, "Can you do it?" They couldn't do it. Right? And that's no different from Imperial College in London, by the way, it's not some sort of anti-American thing going on.

As if. Now, the reason this matters is we pay lots and lots of money for teaching people -- we might as well get it right. And there are also some societal reasons why we might want people to understand what it is that's happening in photosynthesis. For example, one half of the carbon equation is how much we emit, and the other half of the carbon equation, as I'm very conscious as a trustee of Kew, is how much things soak up, and they soak up carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere.

That's what plants actually do for a living. And, for any Finnish people in the audience, this is a Finnish pun: we are, both literally and metaphorically, skating on thin ice if we don't understand that kind of thing. Now, here's how you do the battery and the bulb. It's so easy, isn't it? Of course, you all knew that. But if you haven't played with a battery and a bulb, if you've only seen a circuit diagram, you might not be able to do that, and that's one of the problems.

So, why is it hotter in summer than in winter? We learn, as children, that you get closer to something that's hot, and it burns you. It's a very powerful bit of learning, and it happens pretty early on. By extension, we think to ourselves, "Why it's hotter in summer than in winter must be because we're closer to the Sun." I promise you that most of you will have got that. Oh, you're all shaking your heads, but only a few of you are shaking your heads very firmly.

Other ones are kind of going like this. All right. It's hotter in summer than in winter because the rays from the Sun are spread out more, right, because of the tilt of the Earth. And if you think the tilt is tilting us closer, no, it isn't. The Sun is 93 million miles away, and we're tilting like this, right? It makes no odds. In fact, in the Northern Hemisphere, we're further from the Sun in summer, as it happens, but it makes no odds, the difference.

OK, now, the scribble of the diagram of the solar system. If you believe, as most of you probably do, that it's hotter in summer than in winter because we're closer to the Sun, you must have drawn an ellipse. Right? That would explain it, right? Except, in your -- you're nodding -- now, in your ellipse, have you thought, "Well, what happens during the night?"

Between Australia and here, right, they've got summer and we've got winter, and what -- does the Earth kind of rush towards the Sun at night, and then rush back again? I mean, it's a very strange thing going on, and we hold these two models in our head, of what's right and what isn't right, and we do that, as human beings, in all sorts of fields.

So, here's Copernicus' view of what the solar system looked like as a plan. That's pretty much what you should have on your piece of paper. Right? And this is NASA's view. They're stunningly similar. I hope you notice the coincidence here.

What would you do if you knew that people had this misconception, right, in their heads, of elliptical orbits caused by our experiences as children? What sort of diagram would you show them of the solar system, to show that it's not really like that? You'd show them something like this, wouldn't you? It's a plan, looking down from above. But, no, look what I found in the textbooks. That's what you show people, right?

These are from textbooks, from websites, educational websites -- and almost anything you pick up is like that. And the reason it's like that is because it's dead boring to have a load of concentric circles, whereas that's much more exciting, to look at something at that angle, isn't it? Right?

And by doing it at that angle, if you've got that misconception in your head, then that two-dimensional representation of a three-dimensional thing will be ellipses. So you've -- it's crap, isn't it really? As we say.

So, these mental models -- we look for evidence that reinforces our models. We do this, of course, with matters of race, and politics, and everything else, and we do it in science as well. So we look, just look -- and scientists do it, constantly -- we look for evidence that reinforces our models, and some folks are just all too able and willing to provide the evidence that reinforces the models.

So, being I'm in the United States, I'll have a dig at the Europeans. These are examples of what I would say is bad practice in science teaching centers.

These pictures are from La Villette in France and the welcome wing of the Science Museum in London. And, if you look at the, kind of the way these things are constructed, there's a lot of mediation by glass, and it's very blue, and kind of professional -- in that way that, you know, Woody Allen comes up from under the sheets in that scene in "Annie Hall," and said, "God, that's so professional." And that you don't -- there's no passion in it, and it's not hands on, right, and, you know, pun intended.

Whereas good interpretation -- I'll use an example from nearby -- is San Francisco Exploratorium, where all the things that -- the demonstrations, and so on, are made out of everyday objects that children can understand, it's very hands-on, and they can engage with, and experiment with. And I know that if the graduates at MIT and in the Imperial College in London had had the battery and the wire and the bit of stuff, and you know, been able to do it, they would have learned how it actually works, rather than thinking that they follow circuit diagrams and can't do it. So good interpretation is more about things that are bodged and stuffed and of my world, right? And things that -- where there isn't an extra barrier of a piece of glass or machined titanium, and it all looks fantastic, OK?

And the Exploratorium does that really, really well. And it's amateur, but amateur in the best sense, in other words, the root of the word being of love and passion.

So, children are not empty vessels, OK?So, as "Monty Python" would have it, this is a bit Lord Privy Seal to say so, but this is -- children are not empty vessels.

They come with their own ideas and their own theories, and unless you work with those, then you won't be able to shift them, right?

And I probably haven't shifted your ideas of how the world and universe operates, either. But this applies, equally, to matters of trying to sell new technology.

For example, we are, in Britain, we're trying to do a digital switchover of the whole population into digital technology [for television].

And it's one of the difficult things is that when people have preconceptions of how it all works, it's quite difficult to shift those.

So we're not empty vessels; the mental models that we have as children persist into adulthood. Poor teaching actually does more harm than good.

In this country and in Britain, magnetism is understood better by children before they've been to school than afterwards, OK? Same for gravity, two concepts, so it's -- which is quite humbling, as a, you know, if you're a teacher, and you look before and after, that's quite worrying. They do worse in tests afterwards, after the teaching.

And we collude. We design tests, or at least in Britain, so that people pass them. Right? And governments do very well. They pat themselves on the back. OK?

We collude, and actually if you -- if someone had designed a test for me when I was doing my biology exams, to really understand, to see whether I'd understood more than just kind of putting starch and iodine together and seeing it go blue, and really understood that plants took their mass out of the air, then I might have done better at science. So the most important thing is to get people to articulate their models.

Your homework is -- you know, how does an aircraft's wing create lift? An obvious question, and you'll have an answer now in your heads. And the second question to that then is, ensure you've explained how it is that planes can fly upside down. Ah ha, right.

Second question is, why is the sea blue? All right? And you've all got an idea in your head of the answer. So, why is it blue on cloudy days? Ah, see.

(Laughter)

I've always wanted to say that in this country. (Laughter) Finally, my plea to you is to allow yourselves, and your children, and anyone you know, to kind of fiddle with stuff, because it's by fiddling with things that you, you know, you complement your other learning. It's not a replacement, it's just part of learning that's important. Thank you very much. Now -- oh, oh yeah, go on then, go on.

(Applause)

Good morning, it's my honor to stand here and give you this speech about dreams. There I want to start my speech with two short stories.

The first story happened when I was in primary school, I wrote in my composition that my dream was to be a teacher when I grew up. Meanwhile, what my classmates wrote about their dreams was that he or she wanted to be a doctor, a scientist or an astronaut.

The second story happened at my first year in university. At the careers planning class, when the teacher asked about our dreams, one of my classmates stood up and said, “I want to be a farmer, because I grow up in a farmer's family and I love to be engaged in agriculture.” When he sat down, everyone clapped.

These two stories happened during my growth process, from which I got my understanding of dreams. When I was a child I believed that a dream must be a big dream, but when I grow up I find this big dream is so far away from me, I know little about it, and I have done nothing to achieve it, so it's not my dream. My classmate's answer let me know a real dream is not just about being a great man, or doing a great job, it's about what you really want to be, and are willing to try every effort to pursue it.

Because what makes a dream valuable is not just about the result, it's also about the process, the process when you are trying, when you are struggling, when you failed and restarted again and again, because of the process, dreams can be meaningful and become your wealth.

Thank you.

Failure is what often happens.it is everywhere in your life.students may fail in exams, science may fail in their researchwork, and athletes may fail in competitions.

although failure happens to everyone, attitudes towards failure are various. some people don't think their failure is a very important thing at all. so they pay no attention to it. as a result, they will have the same failure a previously later.they spend their thime and energy on useless things and they may really be fools as they have thought.

Success is not easy to talk about because the word success it-self has hundreds of definitions. For some it means power, for some it means wealth, for others it is fame or great achieve-ments. But I have my own understanding of it.

Success means to try your best.

FLYING YOUTH, MASTER OUR FUTURE

Distinguished judges, teachers, dear friends

Hello, everybody! My name is, I come from. Today, I am very glad to stand here and share with you my most sincere speech‘Flying youth, master our future!’

Life is a process of growing up. Saying goodbye to childhood, we step into another important time of life‘the youth’.However, who can really say what the youth is ? A period of time? A belief? An attitude to life? Or anything else? We don’t know.

A famous poet said ‘ youth is a lovely song ,where nothing is impossible youth is a meaningful book, you’ll be never bored of it ;youth is a rapid river ,it keeps on flowing day and night ;youth is a cup of tea ,it shows you different kinds of tastes in your life. ’

As youth is so precious, of course, we must treasure it .Don’t let the limited time pass by, leaving nothing of significance to our future. Actually, youth has a lot to do with our future. It’s necessary for us to prepare ourselves well for the future to come. So, what should we do? Here ,I’ll point out some tips to help equip ourselves

First of all, recognize the direction of your future. In other word, think of what you’d like to be some day. A teacher ? A doctor ? A writer? Don’t afraid of thinking big and great .Since you are young , you can dream of doing anything and becoming anyone in the future .

What’s more , never ignore the power of knowledge. Read more books and travel around. For one thing, it can increase your knowledge, for another, it’ll broaden your horizon.

Last but not the least , stick to your dream. It easier said than done. After all, future is not all roses. So, we should have enough courage and determination to overcome all the difficulties.

I firmly believe one sentence that‘If you think you can, of course you can!’Just believe we can make it! Keep on walking towards our dream. Flying youth ,master our future. From today, from now on ,from Duping Middle School ! Ready ? That’s all. Thank you so much for your attention !

My effort is to one day be able to not only when athletes, in the crowd watching right now I get a medal of that a moment, but also for the motherland proud! I'm from grade one to grade five dream still has not changed. I still love swimming, fierce war still admire the sports meeting of the athletes; Still admire the moment they get prize excited and happy. I hope one day I can and all as they walked onto the stage, looking forward to fierce applause, I am looking forward to... These, for the past five years, there is no change.

I love swimming, I once thought: "the power of a dream is so large, can pay all costs for dreams, sometimes I am not afraid of hard work, because I've heard a word" I want to do must do our best to finish it, "this is my motto in life." I'm looking forward to the podium on the excitement and joy of a moment, so I will do my best efforts, on their own strength, to complete my dream, this is me. In order to dream, come rain or shine, I still hold this dream, will not change forever...

What is One Breath English

Dear ladies and gentlemen:

Thank you for the warm welcome. It's an honor to be here today. I'm here on a mission. I have an important message. I'm convinced it will change your life. English is everywhere. English is a key to success. We must learn and master it.

So many of us study English like hell. So few of us can speak it well. What do you think is the reason? The problem is right here! The problem is remembering. The problem is that we forget what we learn.

Luckily , through years of research ,we've created a new way to learn . With this specially designed material and method, we can retain what we learn forever. It's called One Breath English.

What is One Breath English? Why shall we learn it, what it all about?

First, it's a breakthrough technique. It's easy to remember. It's designed to be memorized. Repeat nine lines like crazy. Speak as fast as you can. Say it within five seconds. It will become second nature. It will be ingrained in your memory. You will remember it for the rest of your life.

Second, the material is full of life. It's not boring book English. It's the core essence of daily American speech. The content is uplifting. It's considerate and polite. People will like what you say. You'll gain confidence. You'll communicate better. You'll become a better person.

Third, it's fun to learn. It's a five second test. It's just like playing a game. You challenge yourself. You race against the clock. You will improve every time you try. Speak English to yourself day and night. Speak English to everyone around you. It's fun to impress people.

Fourth, One Breath English is very healthy. It's a fountain of youth. It will make you become younger. What makes people grow old? It's anxiety, stress and loss of hope. Reciting English will cure these problems. Chant it over and over. Say it to yourself again and again. Your anxiety, depression and loneliness will all go away.

The bottom line is that One Breath English gets results. It's organized and systematic. This is a great discovery. It's totally revolutionary. It's unprecedented in language learning history. The English revolution is NOW! One Breath English is the way. Let's open our books and begin.

“never give up” can be very encouraging words, but the majority ofyoungsters are likely to give up regardless when dealing with the ordinarydifficulties of life. as one example, many young people are reluctant tocontinue their english study when they feel difficulty learning new words. butif one takes “never give up” as a motto, possibilities and opportunities areexpanded。

it is true that giving up may make things temporarily easier, but whatcannot be denied is that new opportunities arise from perseverance. never givingup can expand one’s possibility for success. when confronted with somethingunknown, a little bravery can result in the possibility of success, like whendr. fleming discovered penicillin. meanwhile, the sense of never giving upenhances one’s self-confidence. this makes one more likely to try new things, opening up even more new opportunities. it can even be a benefit to personalrelationships。

in view of all factors, never giving up is crucial to the pursuit ofdreams. even though toils lie in the way, success is at the other end.

Pollution has been a serious problem for a certain time around the world. There are many causes for it. Transportation is the main factor of pollution. When the waste gas from cars is released, the air is polluted. People breathingin the polluted air can develop respiratory disease. Another factor is thatpeople throw their garbage everywhere.

All kinds of garbage not only spoil the splendid environment, but alsocause environmental pollution. What's more, industrial pollution also deservesour attention. Wastewater from factories is poured into rivers and this causeswater pollution. As a consequence, the greenhouse effect becomes a problem whichneeds our immediate caution and how to solve is urgent all over the world.

At present, some measures have been taken to prevernt. For example, peopleclassify the garbage and some is recycled after being collected. People are alsoencouraged to use paper products instead of plastic products because we knowthat our living condition will be worse if we keep ignoring this problem. And Ibelieve we can prevent pollution if everyone makes the efforts.

One day Mr. Green, the science teacher, asked his class, "What do you want to be when you grow up?"

"I want to be a dolphin trainer like my uncle," Mike answered.

"Why do you want to be a dolphin trainer?" asked Mr. Green.

"Because I'm interested in dolphin language."

"Dolphin language? Tell us more."

"All right," answered Mike, "My uncle tells me that dolphins are very clever. One day my uncle saw a sick dolphin in the pool. It couldn't come up for air. So it whistled to the other dolphins for help. They came to their friend and made some strange sounds. They looked sad. Then together they pushed the sick dolphin's head up above the water. Soon it got well."

"Some scientists once said to my uncle, 'If you live with a dolphin and talk to it all day, maybe you can teach it some words.' My uncle decided to do that. He lived with a dolphin. The dolphin loved to play ball so he decided to teach the word 'ball' first. He threw a ball to the dolphin and said the word 'ball' many times. Soon the dolphin started to say the word."

Kate asked, "How do they make sounds?"

Mike didn't know.

"They make sounds through blowholes in their heads," said Mr. Green. "Scientists know a little about dolphin language, but they have a lot more to learn."

"That's why I want to be a dolphin trainer," said Mike.

for the love of my fatherover the years, i never thought of my father asbeing very emotional, and he never was, at least not in front of me. even thoughhe was 68 years old and only five-foot-nine, while i was six feet and 260pounds, he seemed huge to me. i always saw him as being that staunchdisciplinarian who rarely cracked a smile. my father never told me he loved mewhen i was a child, and i never held it against him. i think that all i reallywanted was for my dad to be proud of me. in my youth, mom always showered mewith “i love you’s” every day. so i really never thought about not hearing itfrom my dad. i guess deep down i knew that he loved me, he just never said it.come to think of it, i don’t think i ever told him that i loved him, either. inever really thought about it much until i faced the reality of death.

on november 9th, 1990, i received word that my national guard unit was beingactivated for operation desert shield. we would convoy to fort ben harrison, indiana, and then directly to saudi arabia. i had been in the guard for 10 yearsand never dreamed that we would be activated for a war, even though i knew itwas what we trained for. i went to my father and gave him the news. i couldsense he was uneasy about me going. we never discussed it much more, and eightdays later i was gone.

i have several close relatives who have been in the military during war time.my father and uncle were in world war ii, and two brothers and a sister servedin vietnam. while i was extremely uneasy about leaving my family to serve mycountry in a war zone, i knew it was what i had to do. i prayed that this wouldmake my father proud of me. my father is very involved in the veterans offoreign wars organization and has always been for a strong military. i was noteligible to join the veterans of foreign wars because i had not been in a warzone—a fact that always made me feel like i didn’t measure up in my father’seyes. but now here i was, his youngest son, being shipped off to a foreign land9,000 miles away, to fight a war in a country we had barely heard of before.

on november 17, 1990, our convoy of military vehicles rolled out of ruralgreenville, michigan. the streets were filled with families and well-wishers tosee us off. as we approached the edge of town, i looked out the window of mytruck and saw my wife, kim, my children, and mom and dad. they were all wavingand crying, except for my father. he just stood there, almost like a stonestatue. he looked incredibly old at that moment. i don’t know why, he justdid.

i was gone for that thanksgiving and missed our family’s dinner. there wasalways a crowd, with two of my sisters, their husbands and children, plus mywife and our family. it disturbed me greatly that i couldn’t be there. a fewdays after thanksgiving i was able to call my wife, and she told me somethingthat has made me look at my father in a different way ever since.

my wife knew how my father was about his emotions, and i could hear her voicequaver as she spoke to me. she told me that my father recited his usualthanksgiving prayer. but this time he added one last sentence. as his voicestarted to crack and a tear ran down his cheek, he said, “dear lord, pleasewatch over and guide my son, rick, with your hand in his time of need as heserves his country, and bring him home to us safely.” at that point he burstinto tears. i had never seen my father cry, and when i heard this, i couldn’thelp but start to cry myself. my wife asked me what was wrong. after regainingmy composure, i said, “i guess my father really does love me.”

eight months later, when i returned home from the war, i ran over and huggedmy wife and children in a flurry of tears. when i came to my father, i embracedhim and gave him a huge hug. he whispered in my ear, “i’m very proud of you, son, and i love you.” i looked that man, my dad, straight in the eyes as i heldhis head between my hands and i said, “i love you too, dad,” and we embracedagain. and then together, both of us cried.

ever since that day, my relationship with my father has never been the same.we have had many deep conversations. i learned that he’s always been proud ofme, and he’s not afraid to say “i love you” anymore. neither am i. i’m justsorry it took 29 years and a war to find it out.

"maybe you will forget those who shared pleasure with you, but you willremember those who tasted tears with you. " kahlil cirbran

“你也許會忘記那些與你一同笑過的人,但是你將永遠記住那些與你一同傷心落淚的人。”---- kahlil girbran

everyone has a lot of friends and he must have his own friendship as well.but usually only when you get into trouble, will you know what the truefriendship is. the friend in need is the friend in deed. only the real friendswill help you when you are in trouble. if you establish your friendship when youare in trouble, make it go on forever.

maybe a boy and a girl become good friends. they feel very happy when theyare each other, but other students may think that they have fallen in love. ifyou were one of them, what would you do? if i were in that position, i would notcare about what anyone else may say. i only care about her feeling. we shouldknow that our friendship is pure without anything bad mixed. friendship is veryimportant for everyone, so i will let my friendship last forever.

everyone should know that he can not lose his opposite sex friends. if you donot make friends with your opposite sex classmates, then you have already losthalf of the friends. so you can make friends with all your classmates, and don'tbe shy. you should also pay enough attention to the friendship that you havealready established. don’t undermine it unless you want to hurt him. you shouldnever try to do so, for if you do that you will lose much in emotion.

please cherish everything that you have already possessed. maybe you don'tcare about it now. but when you lose it, you will find that how important itis.

As everyone knows,English is very important today. It has been used everywhere in the world. It has become the most common language on Internet and for international trade. If we can speak English well,we will have more chance to succeed.Because more and more people have taken notice of it,the number of the people who go to learn English has increased at a high speed.

But for myself,I learn English not only because of its importance and its usefulness, but also because of my love for it.When I learn English, I can feel a different way of thinking which gives me more room to touch the world. When I read English novels,I can feel the pleasure from the book which is different from reading the translation. When I speak English, I can feel the confident from my words. When I write English,I can see the beauty which is not the same as our Chinese...

I love English,it gives me a colorful dream.I hope I can travel around the world one day. With my good English, I can make friends with many people from different contries.I can see many places of GREat interests.I dream that I can go to London, because it is the birth place of English.

I also want to use my good English to introduce our GREat places to the English spoken people,I hope that they can love our country like us.

I know, Rome was not built in a day. I believe that after continuous hard study, one day I can speak English very well.

If you want to be loved, you should learn to love and be lovable. So I believe as I love English everyday , it will love me too.

I am sure that I will realize my dream one day!

Thank you!
