英語畢業論文致謝範本

一、問題與分析

學生論文“致謝”寫作時存在的問題主要表現在以下三個方面。

1.對象不明。例如:

i am grateful tomy parents， without their support， i cannotfinish my thesis. i am also thankful to all my classmates andteachers， without their encouragement， i cannotgetdown towriting the thesis. and finally iwant to thank the foreign languagesdepartmentofxxx university forprovidingme a computer to typeand print outmy thesis.

從對象分析，該“致謝”儘管提到了父母、同學和老師，但排名先後順序不當，而對導師(supervisor)的指導卻隻字不提。

看來，學生還不清楚“致謝”的主要對象應該是誰。

2.文體混亂。例如:

itwas really a laborious task to accomplishmy thesis. manypeople gaveme support and help in the process ofwriting the paper. i’d like first to givemy gratitude tomy dear teacher， who generously gaveme her kind help and instructions during thewhole process ofmy paper-writing. then i’d like to givemymany thanks tomy classmateswho helpedme a lotwithmy information collecting and paper-polishing.

從文體上分析，此“致謝”混用了正式文體和非正式文體。

如laborious， gratitude屬正式文體語言，短語a lot和縮合詞i’d屬非正式文體語言。另外在此用dear teacher來表示“導師”也不當或欠妥。可見學生尚未掌握“致謝”寫作的文體。

3.內容牽強。例如:

iwould like to thankmy supervisor， mrs. xxx who helpedme draw an outline of the thesis and correctmy mistakes in thethesis. also iwant to thank allmy teachers. i learned a lot fromthem， notonly the knowledge butalso theworking attitude. moreover， i thankmy classmates aswel.l during the studywe becamegood friends， and spenthappy time. and finally i am grateful tomy parents， without their support， i cannotaccomplishmy study.

從內容來看，本“致謝”除第一句外，其他句子都與撰寫論文無關，這表明學生不知道“致謝”內容實質是什麼。

二、解決對策

在對以上所存在問題的分析過程中，筆者對論文“致謝”的寫作也進行了一些研究。《英語科研論文寫作概要》一書中這樣指出:“in western academic circles， there are strict conventions aboutwhat should be put in such an acknowledgement，and theway in which it should be written.”[1]由此可見，“致謝”寫作是有一定規定的，因循慣例是關鍵，也是解決“致謝”寫作問題的對策。具體對策有以下三點:

1.　明確“致謝”的對象

《英語科研論文寫作概要》一書中還指出:”generallyspeaking， thanks are rendered only to those who have helped thewriter academically….”[2]。具體說來，“致謝的對象是在研究過程以及在論文的寫作過程中、對作者的研究和成文起了一定的指導、幫助、支持和鼓勵作用的人員。”[3]由此看來，英語專業學士學位論文“致謝”的對象應主要是對論文進行指導的導師，同時包括對論文提出過建議或意見的教師、同學和朋友，以及對論文寫作提供具體幫助的機構和關心論文的作者家人等。

2.　採用“致謝”寫作的文體

“畢業論文或學士論文是一種研究性論文( research paper)。它的語氣、格調和格式不同於非正式文體……畢業論文是一種正規作文，必須遵循正規作文的規範。”[4]英語畢業論文屬研究性論文，在寫作上理應採用正式文體，“致謝”的文體也在其中，包括宜用學術性詞彙、採用單個動詞、使用單詞的全拼形式、多用平行句子。例如:i also extend my sincere gratitude to professorxxx for hisconstant support throughoutmywork on this thesis and forhis informed guidance and advice.

本句中使用的學術性詞彙有extend， sincere gratitude和informed guidance，這些詞彙的使用可使“致謝”嚴謹、莊重。

i am most grateful to my supervisor professor xxx withoutwhose support and patience this thesiswould not have been completed.

此句中用了單個動詞“completed”，意思比較明確，在此則不可採用短語動詞“carried out”。因爲短語動詞爲非正式語言，“短語動詞往往不止一種含義，而且常常難以確定，寫專業論文時往往要用意義比較明確的單個動詞來代替……”[5]carry out就有“實施(計劃)”、“舉行(義務、約定)”、等含義。

iwould like to thank my supervisor professor xxx withoutwhosemost helpful instructions and guidance， the completion ofthis thesiswould have been impossible.

此句中的“iwould like to”不宜縮寫爲“i’d like to”。英語縮寫詞“一般用於非正式文體。”[6]iwould like to express my deep gratitude to my supervisorprofessorxxx for spendingmuch time reading and improving thisthesis.

iwould also like to extendmy sincere thanks tomr. xxx forevaluatingmy thesis and offering valuable input.

finally， iwould like to give thanks tomy classmatexxx forfindingmemany valuable references in the course ofmywriting.

此“致謝”中的三個句子相互平行，結構相似，均採用的是“iwould like to do sth. to sb. fordoing sth.”這一句子結構。

帶有平行結構的句子常用於正式文體[7]，以表強調。

3.掌握“致謝”內容的實質

儘管英語畢業論文“致謝”的篇幅不大，但其內容安排要求對其排列有序、段落層次分明、理由實在具體篇例如:i am most grateful to my supervisor professor xxx withoutwhosemosthelpful instructions andwarm encouragement this thesiswould nothave been finished.

i am also grateful tomy classmates xxx and xxx for theirtime spentwithme discussing questions concerned.

and lastly， special thanks go tomy parents andmy brotherwhohave always supportedme inmy endeavors to finish this thesis.

此“致謝”的對象包括導師、同學和家人，其感謝的順序是先導師、再同學、後家人，符合“致謝”寫作的對象排序。

my sincerestgratitude goes tomy supervisorprofessorxxx.

she has helped me in choosing a suitable topic and guided methroughmy thesiswriting.

my special thanks also go to xxx and xxx， my goodfriends. they have recommended tome some usefulbooks relatedtomy thesis.

finally， aword of appreciation to the school offoreign languages for allowing me to use the reference room and computerroom formy research.

本“致謝”採用了分段感謝。第一段感謝導師幫助“我”選出論文的合適題目並指導完成論文;第二段感謝好朋友推薦給“我”一些與論文有關的有用書籍;最後一段感謝外國語學院允許“我”使用資料室和計算機室進行研究。“致謝”對象各成一段，內容明確、層次分明。

i would like to thank my supervisor associate professorxxx， who has givenme the considerable academic help and constant supportduringmy thesiswriting.

iwould also like to thank my classmates xxx and xxx，who have spent time discussing questions concerned with me andofferedme kind advice about the thesis.

finally， iwould like to thank xxx library， which has providedmewith useful reference needed inmy thesis.

該“致謝”中感謝理由都與完成論文有關，而且具體實在。嚮導師致謝是因爲在“我”論文寫作期間導師提供了很大的學術幫助和不斷的支持。向同學致謝是因爲他們花時間跟“我”討論論文中的有關問題並提出了好的意見。向xxx圖書館致謝是因爲它給“我”提供了有關論文的所需資料。

三、佐證示例

以下“致謝”對象具體、文體正式、格式規範，實事求是，態度誠懇。比較符合西方英語學位論文“致謝”的寫作這一具體要求:“lauding one’s professors， and humbling one’s own efforts are considered inappropriate.”[8]acknowledgementsiwould like to expressmy heartfeltgratitude tomy supervisorprofessorxxx forher encouragement， guidance and advice tomethroughout thewriting of this thesis.

iwould also like to extend my sincere thanks to professorxxx forhis insightfuladvice onmy choice of topic and his helpfulsuggestions.

in addition， i would like to thank my classmates xxx andxxx for their time spentbrainstorming and discussingwithme.

finally， iwould like to give special thanks toxxx university for allowing me to use its library; the staff is of great assistance.

儘管英語專業學士學位論文“致謝”的寫作內容因人而異，但“致謝”寫作要點大致如上所述，萬變不離其宗。學生明確了“致謝”對象、瞭解了“致謝”的文體、掌握了“致謝”的寫作實質，並應用這些寫作要領，寫好“致謝”就不再難了。
