婚禮上的傳統誓言

牧師宣佈婚姻的意義是在於在上帝面前的聖約（theholy convenantinthepresenceofgod），並先後依次問:

willyouloveher/him,comforther/him,honorandkeepher/him,

insicknessandinhealth;

andforsakingallotherskeeponlytoher/him

solongasyoubothshalllive?

是否愛她／他，安慰她／他，榮耀保守她／他，

無論疾病還是健康；

並只守候在她／他身旁，不再尋找別人

只要一息尚存？

依次回答iwill（ido）後，就彼此宣誓:

i,(name),takeyou,(name),我，（名字），願以你，（名字），

tobemyweddedwife/husband,作我婚姻的妻子／丈夫，

tohaveandtohold,相互擁有扶持，

fromthisdayforward,而今而後，

forbetter,forworse,不論境遇好壞，

forricher,forpoorer,家境貧富，

insicknessandinhealth,生病與否，

toloveandtocherish,誓言相親相愛，

tilldeathusdopart,至死不分離。

accordingtogod’sholyordinance;正如上帝之神聖命定；

andtheretoipledgeyoumyfaith.此我以信爲誓

然後交換“那內在而屬靈恩典的外在而可見之記號”

（theoutwardandvisiblesignofaninwardandspiritual

grace）的戒指。接下來是點同心蠟燭，象徵二人成爲一體，一個家

庭。點完同心蠟燭以後，牧師“奉父子聖靈的名”（inthenameof

thefather,andoftheson,andoftheholyspirit）宣佈成爲夫妻。儀式最後以祝福和主禱文結束。
